Dr Andrene Chung (COO) was educated at the St. Andrew High School for girls and later studied for a year in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of the West Indies before entering the Faculty of Medical Sciences in September 1981. She graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in May 1986 and completed a two-year internship in the Jamaica and the Bahamas in 1988. She then joined the residency programme in Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of the West Indies and graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in Internal Medicine in 1992.
Dr Chung worked with the Tropical Metabolism Research Unit on the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies, and as a consultant physician at Cardiology Associates Ltd before travelling to the United Kingdom as a Commonwealth Scholar to pursue subspecialty studies in cardiology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. Shewas made an honorary consultant at the University Hospital of the West Indies, in the Department of Medicine and is an associate lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of the West Indies. Dr. Chung is the Chairman of the Heart Foundation of Jamaica and a director of the National Resuscitation Council.
